Let the games begin!

The 2012-2013 school year began August 13. We have 19 students in our Kindergarten class. The Olympic games in London ended just before our Kindergarten games began. The purpose of the K games is to practice good habits that produce successful students.

We began with an Olympic torch relay. We released our doves (balloons) with  a return postcard to the finder. Classroom competitions included exercises in good  Attitude,Behavior, and Consideration . Home events included daily Reading and Healthy habits.

Class of 2011-2012

I wasn't very successful at keeping the blog site for the entire school year of 2011-2012. It took forever to make an entry because I worked on it from home with dial up internet service. I only had two followers from the class so I didn't continue with new posts.
We did have a good year. We had four really neat field trips, great parties, and lots of special days. We did the Tale of Three Trees for our Graduation program. I am going to attempt to post some picture highlights. (I have high speed now)

Moving on ...

On September 27, our class took our second transportation field trip. We met at school early. We rode the school bus to Nashville's Riverfront where we boarded the Music City Star commuter train. We all rode in the upper level of the train car. We rode to Lebanon where we played and had a picnic at Don Fox Community Park. Then we toured Lebanon Municipal Airport. It was a great day!

Grandparent's Day

On September 16, our school and especially our classroom was filled with lots of love. Every child in class had grandparents or special visitors. We sang songs and played games with our visitors in the classroom. The highlight of the day was the performance of the children on the gymcafetorium stage. We continued our transportation theme with a poem "I want to vist my grandparents, but how can I go?" The children did an amazing job!

Rolling on the River, Our 1st field trip

On August 26, our class took our first field trip. We cruised with Captain Jim and Blue Heron Cruises of Ashland City. The lively crew of 14 children, teacher, nine parents, and bus driver took a 1 1/2 hour tour of the Cumberland River on a pontoon boat. The children enjoyed spotting blue herons and other wildlife. They each took a turn to drive the boat. We had a picnic lunch at River Bluff park and enjoyed some time on the playground.
